Refund Policy

At The Fermented Life Collective: A Create Culture Association, we take great pride in the quality and care that goes into our handcrafted, wild and traditionally cultured and fermented foods and beverages, wellness products, courses, events, and merchandise. Each item is lovingly prepared in small batches and delivered to our members with the utmost integrity and attention to freshness.

 

Due to the nature of our products, which are alive and perishable, we do not offer refunds, returns, or exchanges, except in the limited circumstances outlined below.

 

Eligible Refund Conditions

 

We may offer a refund or replacement only if:

 

  • The product arrives damaged, contaminated, or otherwise compromised in a way that makes it clearly unusable on the first day of receipt.

  • You contact us within 24 hours of delivery with photographic evidence of the issue.

  • The item was not subjected to improper handling, storage, or neglect after delivery.

 

If your order qualifies, we will work with you to issue a replacement product or a refund, at our sole discretion.

 

Ineligible Refund Conditions

 

We cannot offer refunds or replacements in the following cases:

 

  • The product was not stored properly after delivery (e.g., left unrefrigerated).

  • You changed your mind, dislike, or no longer want the product.

  • You failed to notify us of the issue within 24 hours of receipt.

  • Natural variation in taste, texture, or appearance occurred, which is expected in small-batch, fermented goods.

  • Delays caused by third-party delivery services once the product has been shipped in good faith.

 

Member Acknowledgment

 

By becoming a member of our Private Membership Association and accepting delivery of any shares of goods, you acknowledge and agree to this refund policy. Our shares are not sold to the general public and are made available exclusively to consenting members who understand and accept the unique, living nature of traditionally fermented foods.

If you believe your item meets the conditions for a refund or replacement, please email us at TheFermentedLifeKauai@gmail.com within 24 hours of receiving your product. If you are a PMA member, please email us at TheFermentedLifeCollective@gmail.com. Include:

 

  • Your full name

  • Order details

  • A description of the issue

  • Clear photographs of the product(s) and packaging

 

We aim to respond within 1–3 business days and resolve qualifying matters promptly.

The Fermented Life is a cottage food business, exempt from DOH food establishment permit and commercial kitchen requirements under HAR 11-50. Each product is made on-site in the home kitchen of owner-operator Kelly, who is certified through the ANSI-accredited Food Handler Certification program issued by the State of Hawaii, and follows food safety and labeling requirements.
